Ragdoll Appearance

The Ragdoll is a large muscular cat with sweet expression. The body is elegant, muscular and powerful. The head is broad and wedge-shaped. The eyes are large and oval shape. Eyes colors should be blue and dark blue are desirable. Their ears medium sized wide at the base with rounded tips. The fluffy tail is long and bushy. The weight of the Ragdoll is around 12-20 pounds. They are slow to mature and may take more than three years to rich their mature weight.

The Ragdoll coat is medium length, silky and dense with a ruff around the neck. The most common colors are seal point, blue point, chocolate point and lilac Point.

Ragdoll Temperament

The Ragdoll are gentle, sweet temperate, easygoing, docile and extremely tolerant. They don’t know how to defend themselves if attack. They have the ability to limp and relax completely like a rag doll when you carried them. They love to have their bellies rubbed and sleep lying next to you. The Ragdoll are curious and interested in all that happens around them but are not very active or talkative. They are smart, easy to train and love to please their owners.

The Ragdoll are very nice creatures, they get along extremely well with everyone even with strangers. They prefer to be indoors and love company. The Ragdoll is a relatively healthy breed. The major concerns associated with them are sensitive stomachs, urinary tract infections and Feline Leukemia.

Ragdoll Care and Grooming

The Ragdoll coat is not prone to matting, is fairly easy to groom and only need little care. An occasional rubber massage could be done when the cat is shedding to remove loose and dead hair. Brushing and combing ones a week is recommended. Bathing is optional. The Ragdoll cats should not be bathed more often than once every ten weeks to keep their skin from drying out. It is recommended for all cats and household pets to have annual vaccinations, veterinary checkups, and a quality diet. Use a special ear cleaner to keep the ear clean only when necessary and trim off the sharp points of the claws regularly using good clippers.

Ragdoll Shedding

The Ragdoll is an average shedder; especially in summer time you’ll find hair stuck to your couch, carpets, clothes and everything else in your home, therefore is not best suited for those with allergies.
