Russian Blue Appearance

The Russian Blue is a medium size handsome cat with muscular body and gentle expression. They are also known as the archangel cats. Their body is slender but not overly lean. The head is smooth and medium wedge shape. Their eyes are rounded, set wide apart and bright green in color. Their ears are relatively large and wide at the base. The legs are long. The Russian Blues has a fairly long tail in proportion to their body. The weight of the Russian Blue is around 8-12 pounds.

One of the essential features of the Russian Blue is its plush and dense coat that stands out from the body due to its thickness. It has a distinct soft and silky feel. The only recognized color in North America is bluish-gray, although other colors are recognized in Australia, New Zealand, and England.

The Russian Blue is timid, quiet, gentle and very smart. They are very curious and like to be involved in everything that is happening around them. This breed has a soft voice, is very affectionate and tends to attach to one person in the family. Russian Blues is fairly active and playful but not destructive. This is a well-behaved cat that is easy to train. They are the ideal cat for those that like a quiet and relaxed life. The Russian Blue is a relatively healthy breed. There are not major concerns associated with them. They are consider a genetically sound breed, mainly due to the fact that it being a naturally occurring breed.

Russian Blue Care & Grooming

The Russian Blue coat is fairly easy to keep in good condition. An occasional combing could be enough to remove loose hair. Bathing is optional. The Russian Blue cats should not be bathed more often than once every eight weeks to keep their skin from drying out.

It is highly recommended for all cats and household pets to have annual vaccinations, veterinary checkups, and a quality diet. Use a special ear cleaner to keep the ear clean and trim off the sharp points of the claws regularly using good clippers.

Russian Blue Shedding

The Russian Blue are average shedder; you’ll find hair stuck to your couch, carpets, clothes and everything else in your home, therefore is not best suited for those with allergies.
